And why else choose a Warhol other then to celebrate mundane society being passed off as art, stripped down to the naked core of line and color and then and thrown back in that society's face? Beautiful.
Also loved the ballet of Russes photography by E.O Hoppe. The lavish costumes, painted faces and dramatic poses all complete each other to form surrealistic works of art that provide a striking insight into the fashion and costume capabilities of the era.
And finally, although I cant find a photo of the right one; I really loved Mark Rothko's work. In its simplicity it questions the very essence of art. Why do we like what we like? What is the nature of color? Can anything be made into art? It's good stuff.
